Product Description
This thermostat regulates the coolant flow between the engine and radiator. It starts to open at a coolant temperature of 87°C, helping the engine reach its intended operating temperature quickly and maintain it as consistently as possible.
A faulty thermostat may remain permanently open or closed. Possible symptoms include a very long warm-up period, poor heater performance or an excessively high engine temperature.
The thermostat is suitable for selected diesel engines in the VW T25/T3, T4 and T5:
- VW T25/T3 with 1.6-litre diesel engine, engine code CS
- VW T25/T3 with 1.7-litre diesel engine, engine code KY
- VW T25/T3 with 1.6-litre turbo diesel engine, engine code JX
- VW T4 with 1.9-litre diesel and turbo diesel engines, engine codes 1X and ABL
- Also suitable for appropriately equipped VW T4 Syncro models
- VW T5 with 1.9-litre TDI engine from 2003 to 2010, engine codes AXB and AXC

Tip
Before ordering, please compare the engine code and reference number with the existing component. Different thermostats were fitted within the VW T25/T3, T4 and T5 model ranges.
When replacing the thermostat, check the condition of the associated seal. Afterwards, refill the cooling system with coolant approved for the vehicle and bleed the system carefully.
