Information on the disposal of old batteries
The following information applies to end users who use batteries or products with built-in batteries:
Free return of old batteries
Batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. You are legally obliged to return old batteries to ensure proper disposal. You can hand them in at a municipal collection point or at your local retailer. As a distributor of batteries, we are also obliged to take back old batteries, although our obligation to take them back is limited to old batteries of the type that we carry or have carried as new batteries in our own range. You can therefore either return old batteries of the type mentioned above to us with sufficient postage or hand them in free of charge at our shipping warehouse at the following address:
Kuntze Erben GbR
Siemensring 89
47877 Willich
Meaning of the battery symbols
Batteries are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out wheeled bin. This symbol indicates that batteries must not be disposed of with household waste. For batteries containing more than 0.0005 percent mercury by mass, more than 0.002 percent cadmium by mass, or more than 0.004 percent lead by mass, the chemical name of the respective pollutant used is located under the garbage can symbol – where "Cd" stands for cadmium, "Pb" stands for lead, and "Hg" for mercury.

Sale of starter batteries:
According to Section 10 of the Battery Act (BattG), we, as a distributor of vehicle batteries, are obligated to charge you a deposit of €7.50 including VAT for each vehicle battery if you do not return an old vehicle battery to us at the time of purchase. The deposit will be refunded upon presentation of a written or electronic proof of return (according to Section 10 Paragraph 1 Sentence 4 of the Battery Act), which is no older than two weeks at the time of presentation, or upon return of an old vehicle battery. You can return your old batteries either directly to us free of charge or to a collection point set up by the public waste disposal authority (subject to a fee).
Used vehicle batteries are hazardous goods, so they may not be returned to us by mail or parcel service under any circumstances. If the used vehicle battery is not returned to the distributor collecting the deposit, the authorized party, pursuant to Section 11 Paragraph 3 of the Battery Act (BattG), who accepts the used vehicle battery is obligated to confirm the return without a deposit refund to you, the end user, upon request, sent via mail or e-mail. In this case, please return the return confirmation to us, share your customer number, so that we can refund the deposit as soon as possible.
